Experience the Museum at Home

The National Rescue Museum aims to share stories about the Dutch lifeboat service at sea. We do this not only within our museum walls but also invite you to dive into the world of rescuers from the comfort of your home. Join us on a virtual tour or watch one of our vlogs about the hidden treasures of our depot. Explore the films showcasing our sailing heritage—the historical lifeboats. We're delighted to share snippets from our audio tour to bring the museum to life in your living room. Of course, we haven't forgotten our youngest visitors. Discover fun children's activities and let your imagination run wild during crafting sessions.

Enjoy watching and listening!

The Hidden Treasures

The National Rescue Museum boasts a rich collection. Unfortunately, we can't display all objects in our museum; we have around 4000 items in our depot. We fondly refer to them as our 'Hidden Treasures'. Currently, we're busy digitizing them. Some objects are already available for viewing on the online platform Maritiem Digitaal.

Curious about these hidden treasures? Check out our vlogs! Our collection manager would love to show you a few favorite pieces.

Online Children's Activities

Got some free time at home? Watch our vlogs! Craft your own binoculars, ship's horn, or fold a paper boat. Get inspired by our vlog about lighthouses, learn all about survival suits, or join us in learning how to tie knots. In short, plenty to keep you busy!

Virtual Tour

We had the privilege of giving a tour for Regio Noordkop, which has been filmed and is now available for our visitors to watch! Follow a tour of the National Rescue Museum from the comfort of your home and discover everything about the lifeboat service in the Netherlands. You can also listen to the thrilling tale of the shipwreck of the Vreede off the coast of Huisduinen, Den Helder: the beginning of the Royal Netherlands Sea Rescue Institution. This story is showcased on the museum's first floor.

Our beautiful historical lifeboats are moored at the pier in front of the museum. Everyone can admire the lifeboats from the quay. These museum ships are, of course, most captivating when they sail. The National Rescue Museum often takes its lifeboats to events across the country, where they occasionally offer boat tours. You can also This email address is being protected from spambots.
