Adventurous Museum for Kids
The sea holds the most exciting adventures. Especially during a big storm, there's a lot to watch out for! Boats ride on towering waves as the wind howls around them. In challenging situations, rescuers do their work on the water. At the National Rescue Museum, you get to experience this yourself. We have many interactive games and a real VR experience.
Museum Kids
Children find our lifeboat museum a fantastic outing in North Holland. In 2018, we were even named the best museum in the Netherlands, according to Museumkids. We are, of course, incredibly proud of that! Since then, even more interactive attractions have been added. So, set course for Den Helder soon.
Audio Tour in the Museum
Sea rescuers are brave heroes. They use fascinating tools and have many stories to tell! Grab the headphones and discover the National Rescue Museum with our (free) kids' audio tour. Be surprised by fun facts, tips, and a quiz. No boring tour, but lots of hands-on activities! Did you answer all the questions correctly? Then you earn a coveted rescuer's medal.
Outside at Willemsoord, you can also go on an adventure. With the special kids' audio tour, explore the entire area. What ships will you encounter along the way? How many people have been rescued with our boats? Let your imagination run wild and picture what the shipyard in Den Helder looked like in the past.
